I'm trying to edit "ADDUSER". When I change the HLQ=USERID and hit enter I get the message "INPUT CONVERT FAILED". The RPF manual doesn't explain why this message occurs. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
Thanks.

Hey DadKool,

I went and looked at the RPF user's guide and found "Input Convert Failed"
but it looks
like it only comes out when one makes some entry on the command area (not
the
number area or the text area the one line up near the top) when the editor
is expecting
"END" or "RETRY". Did the next message mention "End" & "Retry" ?

Ron,

Yes I did. When I enter "END", RPF leaves edit mode. When I edit the job again, my change does not show up.

Try entering "SAVE" there.

Hmm, You probably had typed SAVE, then got that message and then then
RPF was expecting END (to stop trying to save) or REPLY (to attempt to save
again)

Guessing big here.

If this is so we will have to escalate the problem to someone who knows more
than I do
because RPF is having some problem writing the file. I think.

Are you logged on as a user with authority to do this? (HERC01 HERC02
IBMUSER or
a user you added with ACCT set)

OH wait - your just editing the file, not actually running it just yet -
forget that about
being logged on as an authoritative user... sorry.

Ron again.
