Hey All!

I have Secure shell opened on my home firewall so I can get to the machine
running MVS/Hercules.

Problem is that sometimes when I go to logon I don't get the TSO net
solicitor, I get the Terminal
Controller Screen (?). Now if I am home I just go to the console on the
machine and hit PF 2 and
vary the device off then on - What can I do if I am away?

Do any of you use your mainframes remotely?

Ron. (yup the newbie is back... )

Hi Ron,

On my setup (TK3+MVS/380) I can press the ATTN key, which will wake up VTAM and give me the NETSOL screen. I don't think this worked in the early days of TK3, so I'm not sure what fixed it (it may have been my error early on and not TK3).

Cheers, Tony.

Thanks, I'll have my remote users give it a try...

Ok one instance of your suggestion working has been demonstrated
with my user SSH into a remote linux box - then running c3270 from there.

That can be marked as "Solved" Thanks!

Ron.

What is a TK3?

I run my console session(s) via c3270 under GNU screen. If I'm
accessing the box remotely I can "reattach" the screen session with
the console and do whatever I need.

I run them under screen too - never occurred to me to detach them.
