LONG post warning!
Hi Dennis,
The site (and the 3270 server) on the TK4- online system uses a self
signed certificate.
Hence no connection.
There are so many 3270 emulators that I will not go into them, but only
show the preparation step(s).
1) install and export the wotho4.ethz.ch certificate. (The hard way, for
an easy way see point 2)
Use a web browser to connect to https://wotho4.ethz.ch
Make sure this starts with https so a secure connection is attempted.
(I used internet explorer-10 a browser that I do not like, but most
windows people have access to it).
As my windows is nl_NL I just guess what the text would be, so do not be
too critical on the text here.
IE complains about the certificate and asks what to do.
Press "go to the site (not recommended)"
IE places a button next to the URL: something like "certificate error"
Press this button and on the pop-up (on the bottom of it) press "Show
certificate"
Look like this here:
Press "install certificate" and follow the wizard to import the certificate.
You can access the certificate via "internet options" -> "Content" (not
sure about the name of that tab)
On that tab there is a button "Certificates" click it.
Select tab "intermediate certificate authorities" scroll down to wotho4...
Now via "export" you can take a copy in the format fit for your 3270
emulator and use it there.
2) Maybe simpler:
Use WC3270 as 3270 emulator and use a configuration file like mine
publicTK4-.wc3270:
wc3270.marginedPaste: true
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor1: 11
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor2: 12
!wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor3: 9
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor4: 10
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor5: 11
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor6: 14
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor9: 9
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor10: 12
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor11: 5
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor12: 2
!wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor13: 3
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor14: 7
wc3270.consoleColorForHostColor15: 15
wc3270.noPrompt: false
wc3270.model: 3279-5-E
wc3270.extended: true
wc3270.oversize: 160x62
wc3270.keymap: NoEnter
wc3270.hostname: L:wotho4.ethz.ch:3270
wc3270.selfSignedOk: true
The last line is important here.
No further certificate atcion needed for wc3270.
Start maybe like this:
start "wc3280 TK4-" "C:\Program Files (x86)\wc3270\wc3270.EXE"
publicTK4-.wc3270
Pff, I stop here.
Hope it helps........
Regards,
Bert

No luck in connecting. I immediately get a timeout.
---Hi All
I've made an online copy of the TK4- system available. It is
primarily intended to be used
- as a reference system to verify local installations
- as a production style MVS 3.8j system for users not wanting to
install and maintain a local copy
- as a preview to get an impression of the TK4- system before
deciding to install a local copy
For more information see https://wotho4.ethz.ch
Have fun!
Cheers
